Mission Statement
The Lincoln Society of Virginia promotes research and
provides information and educational programs about President Abraham
Lincoln. Its focus is on Lincoln's life and work, his significance in
American history, and on the lessons to be learned from his life.
Special focus is on Lincoln's connections with Rockingham County,
Virginia and on providing an accurate and mature interpretation of him
from the point of view of Virginians and other Southerners. The Lincoln
Society of Virginia also desires to acquire and preserve local Lincoln
family landmarks including the Lincoln Cemetery and the Lincoln
Homestead residence near the Cemetery, both of which are in Rockingham
County of Virginia. |
